Reserve A Game LLC ("PlayLocal," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our website at www.playlocal.com, our mobile applications for iOS and Android, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. We may update this policy from time to time — we’ll notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information: Name, email address, phone number, password, and profile details (e.g., skill level, sport preferences, profile photo)
  • Booking information: Facility selections, court preferences, reservation dates and times, cancellation history
  • Payment information: Payment method details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your credit card number. We retain Stripe customer IDs, transaction references, and billing zip codes for residency verification and record-keeping.
  • Communications: Messages sent through in-app messaging, friend requests, reservation invites, and any messages you send to our support team
  • User-generated content: Profile information, player matching preferences, and facility feedback

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Device type, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens
  • Location data: With your permission, we collect your device location to show nearby facilities and provide directions. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.
  • Usage data: Pages and screens visited, features used, search queries, booking patterns, session duration, and app open/close events
  • Email engagement: Whether you open emails we send and which links you click
  • Log data: IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and access timestamps for our website

Information from Third Parties

  • Social login providers: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those services. We do not receive your password from these providers.
  • Facility partners: Cities and facility operators may provide us with information about court availability, pricing, and facility rules.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services
  • Process bookings and payments
  • Send reservation confirmations, reminders, and cancellation notices
  • Verify residency for facility-specific pricing
  • Enable social features (friend connections, player matching, messaging, reservation invites)
  • Send you service updates and, with your consent, promotional communications
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the product
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access (including rate limiting and bot detection)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Facility partners: When you book a court, the facility operator can see your name, reservation details, and contact information necessary to administer the booking.
  • Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the platform, including Supabase (authentication and database), Stripe (payment processing), Mixpanel (analytics), Resend (email delivery), Apple Maps / Google Maps (mapping and geocoding), Expo (push notifications), and Vercel (website hosting). These providers access your data only to perform services on our behalf.
  • Select partners: We may share certain information (such as name, email, and general location) with carefully selected third parties whose products or services we believe may interest you. We will never share your payment information with these partners. You may opt out of this sharing at any time by emailing support@playlocal.com.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, such as in response to a court order, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PlayLocal, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: If Reserve A Game LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and update: You can view and edit your profile information at any time in the app under your Profile.
  • Email opt-out: You can unsubscribe from promotional emails by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting support@playlocal.com. You cannot opt out of transactional emails (booking confirmations, reminders, etc.) while you have an active account.
  • Push notifications: You can enable or disable push notifications in your device settings.
  • Location: You can enable or disable location access in your device settings.
  • Account deletion: You may delete your account by using the Delete Account option in app settings or by emailing support@playlocal.com. We will delete your personal data within 10 business days. Anonymized booking records may be retained for facility reporting purposes.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act: the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, the right to opt out of sharing with select partners, and the right to non-discrimination. To exercise any of these rights, email support@playlocal.com. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.

Residents of Other U.S. States

Several other states (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Texas) provide similar privacy rights. If you reside in one of these states and wish to exercise your rights, please contact us at support@playlocal.com.

Data Retention

  • Account data (profile, email, phone, preferences): Retained for the life of your account.
  • Booking history: Retained for the life of your account. Upon account deletion, booking records are anonymized and retained for facility reporting.
  • Payment records: Transaction references and amounts are retained for 7 years for financial and tax record-keeping, as required by law.
  • Analytics data: Usage and behavioral data is retained for up to 5 years.
  • Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion, we purge your personal information within 30 days. Anonymized records may be retained as described above.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS
  • Secure authentication with password hashing (BCrypt)
  • Row-level security on our database ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Payment information processed directly by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified provider — we never store your credit card number
  • Rate limiting and bot detection to prevent unauthorized access

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

PlayLocal is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under 16, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@playlocal.com.
